Lutruwita Art Orchestra
This year has been full of new and lovely opportunities, including working with the Lutruwita Art Orchestra. This 17-piece ensemble includes an Iranian setar player and singer, latin percussionist, Celtic harpist, jazz bassist and saxophonist, and assorted other contributors. It's convened by the indefatigable and highly creative Stevie McEntee, and managed by arts administrator extraordinaire Frances Butler. The first iteration of this group was called Creek Street Art Orchestra and was an outreach project throught Kickstart Arts. Three years later it is a free-standing arts organisation and going from strength to strength.
We're preparing for our world premiere at the Junction Arts Festival in Launceston on Sept. 21, presenting our collaborative odyssey - Songs That We Carry. It will be followed by a Hobart show on Oct 5 (possible second show Oct 6), and then a tour to Queenstown, Wynyard and Ulverstone in late October.
This is a great group to be part of. The musicians are open to each others' musical cultures and shared humanity. A great vibe!
